What is Accommodation and Tenancy Services in the NDIS?
Housing/ rental assistance is an assistance service provided under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This service aims to help NDIS participants access and maintain accommodation, as well as provide assistance with rental services to promote independent living.
Housing/rental assistance services may include different types of assistance, e.g.
1. Finding Suitable Accommodation
Helping participants find suitable accommodation that matches their needs, preferences and support needs.
2. Tenancy Skills Training
Training and mentoring to develop the skills necessary to manage rentals, such as budgeting, paying bills, and understanding tenancy agreements.
3. Housekeeping
Assistance with household chores, including cleaning, organising and maintaining daily living routines.
4. Mortgage and Payment
Assistance with managing mortgages and inventory to ensure the participant maintains a stable and secure housing arrangement.
5. Communication with Landlords
Assistance in communicating with landlords or property managers to address rental issues or concerns.
6. Problem Solving
Helping resolve challenges or disputes related to tenancies, ensuring that the participant’s accommodation remains stable and safe.
